YouTubers expressed disbelief and confusion on this pass Thursday as Youtube notified some of them that their channels were going to lose verification status.
YouTube has faced several issues with Youtubers this year, with some complaining about harassment, and others arguing that the platform’s rules about removing advertisements or “demonetization”. They say the rules are all over the place and not understandable.
YouTube will replace the existing checkmark with “a new look” that is intended to make the “official channel of the creator, celebrity or brand” identifiable.
